this morning, as I was waiting in line at The Good Bean in the beautiful and historic town of Jacksonville, OR for my morning tea I glanced over at the newspaper on the counter beside the cash register. There were three articles headlines that jumped out at me:
1. Obama to focus on economy and jobs
2. Southern Oregon Pelicans dying in droves

Last night I settled onto the couch with my love in front of a movie for a few hours after a long day in the salt mines. I am writing a sci-fi screenplay so I have been watching a lot of sci-fi flicks lately, new and old, to learn from some of the masters. Last night I went to check out the hit movie AVATAR. Having met a couple in my time, I was curious to see what the creator of TERMINATOR and TITANIC was going to do with such a non-dramatic concept; a fully realized divine being incarnated. I was pleasantly surprised. The movie is a work of cinematic, technological art and a masterfully told story. But this is not a film critique. The social impact the movie is having is what fascinates me.
